The reason I started this public rambling is so that I can motivate myself to start taking care of my body. I hope that as I keep up with this blog each week I'll connect with many of you, who are in the same position that I am in... I'm a 20 something single, working non-stop, doing overtime, sitting on my butt all day in front of the computer and find that I am too tired to cook when I get home. I also find that many times I let myself be satisfied with quantity rather than quality especially since quality foods come with a hefty price-tag. Well anyhow, I think this might actually be sort of fun! I've always wanted to take on cooking as my hobby so I went to Ikea and bought myself a new set of white dishes so I can get rid of the hodgepodge of dishes and glassewear that is crowding my kitchen cabinet. I also bought some cutting mats and dish rags... just to get myself excited for this new venture!
My goal is to find a meal plan each week that is:
1. healthy (preferrably organic)
2. quick, easy and fun (if it takes me more than an hour- forget it! I'm actually aiming for 30 minutes)
3. affordable (I am aiming at spending around $50-$70 every two weeks for groceries for myself + brother + (roomate if he's home)
4. and most importantly, tasty!!!
Confession:
I'm definitely not a chef. I can cook but I hate cooking for myself (I love hosting parties but find cooking on a regular bases a waste of time, can you relate?) I usually succumb to fast-foods or delivery due to just being simply tired after work... My usually diner menu when I'm home:
1. roomate's instant noodles (his only food item on his grocery list, the other item: six-pack)
2. Charms Thai which delivers to my place + diet coke
3. Jack in the box (another place in route to my home after work) + diet coke
4. Taco Truck near my home + diet coke
5. Goldfish + diet coke
6. whatever is in the fridge + diet coke (by now you realize, we always have diet coke in the fridge)
Strategy:
This weekend- fill up on everything I want to eat
Mexican food!!! Bacon wrapped hotdogs!
Next 10 days- Master Clense Detox
Aug. 3-grocery shopping and meal plan for the week, pre-cut, pre-wash, freeze or regrigerate items needed for the week.
Aug 4-eat!
